Artist Research #2

Known for his street art, Banksy is a renown graffiti artist who regularly creates depictions of satire. Found mostly in England and around Europe, the simple display of Banksy's work, illegal street graffiti, is a statement in itself. The satirical nature reflects many broken aspects of our society and government. Most of his work is done by spray painting stencils he creates beforehand. However, some of his work includes the creation and placement of objects such as the telephone booth. One practical reason for his work being of this nature is to account for the legality of where he chooses to display his art and to make installation of his work as quick as possible to avoid getting caught. To this day Banksy is completely anonymous, even after having his work displayed in many major European cities as well as in New York, where he currently resides and will be doing so for the next month while he works on more installations throughout the city.
